We only collect what we need to design, quote, install and service your solar system — and we never sell your data.

British Solar Ltd ("British Solar", "we", "us") is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are registered in England (company no. 09123456) at 1 Solar Court, Sheffield S1 2AB, and registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (registration no. ZA123456).
For any data protection query, email privacy@britishsolar.co.uk.
To produce a quote: postcode, roof imagery from third-party aerial providers, energy usage estimates, and contact details you provide (name, email, phone).
To install: full address, property details, payment information processed by our payment provider, and on-site photographs of the install.
To service your system: performance data from your inverter (if you opt in to monitoring), and records of any aftercare visits.
Contract: to prepare your quote, take payment, and deliver your installation.
Legal obligation: to meet MCS, HIES, Building Regulations and DNO notification requirements.
Legitimate interest: to improve our quoting tools, prevent fraud, and contact you about your active quote.
Consent: for marketing emails — you can withdraw any time using the unsubscribe link.
MCS and your local Distribution Network Operator (DNO), to register and commission your system.
Our payment processor (Stripe), aerial imagery provider, and CRM/email provider — all under written data-processing agreements.
HIES, our insurance-backed warranty provider, to register your workmanship guarantee.
We do not sell your data to third parties. Ever.
Quote data is kept for 12 months from your last interaction. Installation records are kept for the lifetime of your workmanship warranty plus 6 years, in line with our insurance and tax obligations.
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and you can object to or restrict processing. Email privacy@britishsolar.co.uk and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're unhappy with our response, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
