Terms & Conditions

These terms apply when you place an order with British Solar Ltd for a residential solar installation.

Last updated: 24 May 2026

1. About us

British Solar Ltd, company no. 09123456, registered at 1 Solar Court, Sheffield S1 2AB. MCS contractor no. NIC-12345. We're regulated by the FCA for credit broking (FRN 987654) and a member of HIES.

2. Your order

An online quote is an estimate based on the information you've given us. Your order becomes a binding contract once we've completed a remote technical survey, confirmed your design in writing, and you've paid the deposit.

If the survey reveals work outside the original scope (e.g. structural reinforcement, switchboard upgrade), we'll send a revised quote. You can accept it or cancel with a full refund of any deposit paid.

3. Price and payment

Prices on our website include VAT at the prevailing zero-rate for qualifying residential installations (per HMRC VAT Notice 708/6) and all materials, labour and DNO notification.

A refundable £99 deposit secures your install slot. The balance is due on the day of installation, either in full or via an agreed finance plan with our FCA-authorised lender.

4. Installation

We'll agree an installation date with you in writing. Most installs take 1–2 days. You must give our engineers safe access to the property and a working electricity supply.

Risk in the equipment passes to you on the day of installation. Title passes once we've received payment in full.

5. Warranties

Panels: 25-year product and performance warranty from the manufacturer.

Inverter: 10–12 years from the manufacturer, depending on model.

Battery: 10 years from the manufacturer.

Workmanship: 10 years from British Solar, insurance-backed by HIES so cover continues even if we ceased trading.

6. Cancellation

You have 14 days from placing your order to cancel for any reason under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 — see our Cancellation policy for full details.

7. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability for any claim is limited to the price you paid for the installation.

8. Complaints and disputes

If something goes wrong, please follow our complaints procedure. Unresolved disputes can be referred to the HIES Alternative Dispute Resolution scheme at no cost to you.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of the UK nation in which you live.
